Salt Marsh at Sunset Photo Session | Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina Photographer

A local client recently hosted her friends from out of state for the specific purpose of having this photo session on the marsh. I was so stressed coming up to this date worried with crowds, weather, the tide and all the other random things that can get thrown at you when you are a coastal photographer in a busy beach town.

I am glad to say we had the most perfect evening!!!!

Mother nature is a tricky thing and to be able to catch the perfect conditions when everyone can gather for photos is not for the faint of heart.

As a long time, local photographer, I often have to make last minute adjustments to timing and location to meet the wants and needs of my clients along with ensure we will get great results despite what mother nature dishes out and/or a busy beach town had going on.

The coast provides some complex conditions that can change in a moments time, without notice. Wind direction can change, forcing me to face my people in a direction where the light is not optimal so I always tell clients to be ready to put hair up. Crazy lunar tide changes can flood a beach to the point where there is no beach! A cloud bank can roll in at the moment the sun is down in that perfect sweet spot. Then there is the public location factor.....I have arrived to a parking area only to find the lot was full due to an event on the beach such as a wedding or large yoga class.

It's so satisfying to have a perfect night like this one was but if you have always dreamed of beach photos, remember to relax and be ready to adapt as needed.
